Stella Solveig Childs (she/her) is a violinist, singer-songwriter, composer, and folk-singing fairy in Chicago, IL, whose work combines her classical violin training with her lifelong love of folk music, musical theater, and improvisation. Stella has performed in and led a variety of ensembles including string quartets, symphony orchestras, choirs, experimental new music groups, Balkan music ensembles, and bluegrass jams. As a session musician, Stella is a creative and flexible collaborator, bringing a a special spark to her fellow artists’ works. As a soloist, Stella is an engaging presence, singing with her heart on her sleeve while earnestly weaving tales with her voice, violin, and guitar. She brings her musical life’s invaluable experiences to the page with her written works and to the stage as a performing artist.
